What is the difference between the Halifax Gateway Council and the Atlantic Gateway Council?

The Halifax Gateway Council is primarily focused on the ports of Halifax, while the Atlantic Gateway Council represents all four Atlantic provinces. The Halifax Gateway Council (HGC) is however a representative of the Atlantic Gateway Council. The Halifax Gateway Council focuses on marketing the city as s competitive international trade hub based on its geographic location. The HGC also works with the private sector and other stakeholders and conducts research and analysis that will guide government investments.

Where does the Halifax Gateway Council get its funding?

It receives funding from the public and private sector.

Are there other Gateway Councils in Canada?

Yes. The Halifax Gateway Council is one of three “official” Gateway Councils in Canada. The other two official gateway councils are the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council and the Southern Ontario Gateway Council. In addition, there are also gateway councils in Toronto, Montreal and Western Canada.
